What are Sisterlocks?

Sisterlocks is a hair locking system that creates tiny, style-able locs in natural hair. The technique creates a stable, woven framework in a small section of hair using only the hair itself — that means no extensions or attachments are used. Once that framework is established, the natural interlocking process takes place, allowing the loc to settle into a uniform shape. It allows women with tightly textured hair to take advantage of a wide range of today's hairstyles without having to alter the natural texture of their hair or add any products or heat.

How   long  does  it  take?

A Sisterlocks™ package is made up of three phases; (1) a consultation, (2) locking session and (3) a follow-up visit after three weeks of the locking session. The follow-up session is considered the “Retightening” session. This is further explained below.

Phase  1

The first visit is known as The Consultation Session. Here, you and your consultant will discuss your personal hair care history, your styling preferences and your lifestyle in order to determine if Sisterlocks is right for you. You will also have “TEST LOCS” put in your hair to see if they will hold, check sizes, amount of scalp showing, setting-in time, etc. This consultation is essential for both you and your consultant to ensure you get your Sisterlocks done in the most suitable way.

Phase  2

The second visit is known as The Locking Session. It can take an average of 10-16 hours. Sisterlock clients generally will leave this session with an average of 400 locks. Your consultant will provide a “Starter Kit” that includes the proper shampoo for starting your locks, tiny rubber bands, and “tip-sheets” on grooming and shampooing as your locks settle in. Good maintenance is the key to gorgeous Sisterlocks over time.

Phase  3

The third visit is known as the Follow-Up Session. You will need to schedule your follow-up visit 3 weeks after The Locking Session. The first two shampooings will be provided by your consultant. Your consultant will monitor the integrity of your locks, tighten them up and give you an idea of how long the settling in process is likely to take. You can also begin discussing styling tips for the ‘Total Look’ that works for you.
